Cinemata is pleased to announce a new partnership with Chapterhouse, a cozy creative neighborhood hub located in Sikatuna Village, Quezon City, Philippines. Beginning this March, Chapterhouse will host weekly film screenings every Wednesday, featuring curated playlists from Cinemata’s Community Curators and Volunteer Curators.
This partnership marks an important step in extending Cinemata’s programming beyond the digital platform and into a shared physical space. While Cinemata has long been a home for socially engaged films online, in-person screenings allow stories to be experienced collectively, creating room for dialogue, reflection, and community engagement beyond the screen.
Chapterhouse provides a fitting venue for this collaboration. Designed as a welcoming third space, it clusters independent creative initiatives, including Library Una, The Independent Study, Gantala Press, Spare Bedroom, The Playroom Novelty Shop, Artful Mess Lab, and TBA Coffee. More than a café or venue, Chapterhouse brings together artists, neighbors, students, and cultural workers in an atmosphere that is warm, accessible, and community-centered.
Its vision of fostering dialogue, creativity, and collective growth aligns closely with Cinemata’s commitment to advocacy-driven cinema. Through cultural programming and collaborations with various organizations and communities, Chapterhouse cultivates a space where ideas circulate freely, and creative exchange thrives.
Through this collaboration, curated playlists programmed by Cinemata’s Community Curators and Volunteer Curators will be screened onsite, featuring films that engage with human rights, environmental justice, identity, labor, and regional storytelling. The weekly format encourages sustained engagement, allowing audiences to return, participate, and grow alongside the programming.
Cinemata is grateful to have its films screened in a cultural space that shares the same commitment to accessibility, social engagement, and collective experience. This partnership strengthens the bridge between online circulation and offline community viewing, affirming cinema as a shared cultural practice.
